My name is Louise Maule and I am a fibromyalgia sufferer. It took 5 years for the diagnosis with a range of tests and different diets to try to see if it eased my symptoms. Every day is different and if I get flare ups it can completely take me off of my feet, looking after two young children daily it can be a struggle, I want to be able to be the mum I want to be and not have to say no to them as I'm not feeling well enough to play a game with them or run around the park.
I have now had fibromyalgia for 8 years and have learnt what triggers my fibromyalgia so I'm able to minimise flare ups as much as possible. Because of the length of time it took for diagnosis and because there is no treatment available I decided to make it my mission to raise as much funds as possible to aid Fibromyalgia Action UK in their research and support.
This is a massive challenge as you will know you don't know how you are going to be on a daily basis. I'm am using my small business to help raise awareness by selling aloe lips all the profit from these will go straight to fibromyalgia uk. For every aloe lips I sell I'm also going to be running a mile. My other challenge is going to be to run the great north run next year and the marathon the year after. I'm really hoping my body will be able to take it but I'm very determined.

The charity is run by volunteers, most of whom have fibromyalgia.
If your Health Care Professional needs some education in fibromyalgia you can request that an FMA UK Health Professionals Pack is sent out to them. All we need is the name of the Health CareProfessional and the address of their practice. We will then send a pack to their surgery addressed from us to them.

You can find a Support Group near you by contacting the Regional Coordinator for your area. If there does not happen to be a support group near you then maybe you can join with some other members and set one up. Support groups provide a social benefit as well as the opportunity to share tips on coping with fibro. They come in all shapes and sizes and we are often told how they have helped people.
