List of volunteer tasks
Please find below the main volunteer roles within FMA UK. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the roles listed below, or you feel you can help the charity in some other way, please fill out the volunteer enquiry form. You will then be given full details of what is involved, with no obligation, and a follow up interview/chat will be arranged.
If you are willing to help us we would love to hear from you. Our volunteers help with administration work, support groups, fundraising activities and lots more. Volunteers are vital to FMA UK. Make good use of your skills, get involved in your local community and gain valuable experience while supporting our campaigns.
Trustee - the Board of Trustees are responsible for the overseeing of the running of the charity, and ensuring that we comply with relevant charity regulations. Trustees have regular meetings on MS Teams, and an annual in person meeting.
Regional Coordinator - local point of contact for our network of support groups and general enquirers; representing the charity in the region. Main tasks include to answer enquiries from people with fibromyalgia; family members; health professionals etc and to provide support to local groups. Regional Coordinators are invited to attend regular online meetings on MS Teams and an annual in person meeting. A short report also requires to be submitted for each meeting.
National Helpline Volunteer - answering calls from people with fibromyalgia, family members, health professionals etc regarding all aspects of fibromyalgia. The national helpline is available Monday - Friday 10.00-4.00 and the volunteers work on a rota. Each shift is 3 hours (AM 10.00-1.00 or PM 1.00-4.00). We have a separate Benefits Helpline which is covered by fully trained benefits advisors.
Head Office Volunteer - assisting with admin tasks in our head office in Paisley. Processing and sending out information packs, merchandise orders, data input and other tasks as required to assist in the smooth running of the office.
