FMA UK always love to hear about the different events that Support Groups and Individuals take part in to raise funds and awareness of fibromyalgia.   This is just a few that are taking place in the coming months.

The SGFMSG (Stevenage) Group are hosting a fundraising table at their local Poplars Community Forum's, Community Awareness Fun Day on 27th July - where they will have an information table with leaflets  to raise awareness.  They also hope to have a bric brac table which members will share and assist each other to man for an hour each.

MaggThe Fibro, ME/CFS Babes & Guys have a stand at the Montpellier Fiesta in Cheltenham on 6th July. They have lots of books, toys, clothes for sale and all proceeds will go to the charity.  More information can be found at http://www.facebook.com/events/387981977977523/.   Midsummer Fiesta showcases the fantastic talents of the diverse communities of Cheltenham. With a multitude of activities from charity stalls to music and dance this is a day for everyone in Cheltenham to enjoy.

Maggie Gadsby is doing the Coventry Fun on 9th June to raise money for Fibromyalgia Association UK.  She says

altI have had the condition for 12 years and want to give something back for the support I have received. If you would like to sponsor me please see my site and if you know of anyone else who like to take part please let them know about it.

Allan Borland, Chair of Fibro PaIN is going to be doing a firewalk on Saturday 3rd August and will be sharing the money raised between Fibro PaIN and FMA UK.  Although Allan doesnt have fibromyalgia, his wife and teenage daughter do.

altMy wife Hazel developed fibromyalgia almost 20 years ago, following the birth of our daughter Nikola. Then Nikola was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year, as a result of a car accident 7 years ago.

I have witnessed first hand how debilitating and devastating fibromyalgia can be for sufferers, and obviously having been my wife's main carer and now also caring for my daughter - I appreciate just how much awareness of the condition is needed.

I am Chairperson of Fibro PaIN, the local support group for people with fibromyalgia living in Renfrewshire & Inverclyde (www.paisleyfm.org) and I also volunteer for the national charity FMA UK (www.fmauk.org)

I have wanted to do a firewalk for a several years, and when the opportunity to do one came along - I decided that it was also an ideal opportunity to raise funds to help raise more awareness of fibromyalgia.   https://www.justgiving.com/Allan-Borland

And also doing a firewalk on 27th July are Rebecca Dando and Tasha Mapes of Taunton.

Good luck to all of the above - and please let us know how your events go, and maybe send us a picture or two.
